This event caught everyone’s attention and then In 1989, the governing council of the United Nations Development Programme established World Population Day for proper management of population, promote quality of life, control population growth and utilize the available resources in the world in a sustainable way. 

The first World Population Day was observed on July 11, 1990. Since then, every year it has been observed.
